A real rarity: The Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray

55 miles on the highway are too boring in the long run. To escape, the Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray was chased around some local gravel tracks belonging to local motor sport clubs. In autumn 1962 the new Corvette C2 appeared under the name "Sting Ray". With 425 bhp under the bonnet and a top speed of 171 mph, the Sting Ray set a speed record at Le Mans in 1967. Despite its great success, the Corvette C2 had the shortest construction time of all generations – only four years – and is therefore a very rare and much sought-after vehicle by collectors.
