Jenko Fishing is the brainchild of teenage entrepreneur and angler, Coleton Jennings. Coleton started fishing with his grandfather at a young age, fishing for crappie and other pan fish from a john boat on Kentucky Lake and other small ponds in the area. At age 12 Coleton became interested in bass fishing. Having no family history with bass fishing, he began studying the species and researching the proven techniques used to catch them. Coleton bought his first bait casting rig and some basic bass tackle with his own money and carefully studied his grandfather’s methods with other fish while learning more and more about their various feeding habits and ultimately how to catch them. It wasn’t long before Coleton designed and engineered his own baits—mostly spinner baits and top water lures early on. His first lure was a top water bait carved from a broomstick. He soon began tying his own hair jigs with materials from his father’s crappie jig-making setup, which became the genesis of the Jenko Big Wig hair jig. As Coleton reached high school age, he became very interested in tournament fishing and joined the Calloway County (KY) High School Fishing Team. Inspired by many professional anglers, and of course his grandfather, Charlie. Coleton has placed and won many high school and local club tournaments. Including a 72 pound 4 day total at the 2015 TBF High School World Finals for an impressive 6th place finish. His largest sack of fish in a sanctioned tournament came at the 2016 High School World Finals on Pickwick Lake, catching over 26 pounds on the final day to win the event and become a TBF High School World Champion. All while fishing with his own lure designs. Coleton spends nearly every free moment just a few miles down the road from his home on Kentucky Lake, where some of the world’s best fishing is found. The remainder of his time is spent designing baits and traveling to promote Jenko Fishing and practicing for his upcoming professional fishing career. Coleton is driven to consistently get an advantage over the fish and his completion, with his fresh, innovative ideas and designs as the core of Jenko Fishing. His dream turned into reality, Coleton is focused on life after high school with the dual goals of building a successful tackle company in Jenko Fishing and pursing his love of tournament fishing. Jenko’s products include a full line of premium lures, including its signature hair jig, soft swimbaits, hard swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. The line also includes top of the line crappie rods designed for crappie fishermen by crappie fishermen. Coleton’s father and business partner, Matt, is an avid crappie fisherman and helped design the Jenko Crappie Rods. Matt enjoys spider rig trolling, vertical jigging, and casting, but his favorite fishing methods are trolling crankbaits and using planer boards. The rest of the Jennings family consists of Matt’s wife, Kelly, and Coleton’s younger sister, Avery.
